Charlevoix County is a booming, with several year-round

resort communities. Communities include, the City of Charlevoix, Boyne City, East Jordan, and Village of Boyne Falls.

The City of Charlevoix, is the county seat and borders the shores of Lake Michigan. Incorporated as a village in 1879 and a city in 1905, Charlevoix has grown with the tourist industry and also attract new industrial businesses to the area.

Charlevoix also home to the US Coast Guard Cutter Acacia and the associated Coast Guard station personnel, along with the Beaver Island ferry, all on the water near the downtown area.

Boyne City was settled in 1856 and incorporated as a village in 1885. The City was incorporated in 1907 and is located at the mouth of the Boyne River on the eastern shores of Lake Charlevoix. The city maintains a marina which offers access to Lake Michigan and ports beyond.
